Pairs Hosts Seminar To Tackle Declining Birth Rates

Pairs has hosted an online media seminar, entitled “Factors of Love and Marriage Separation Accelerating in Corona”. The seminars are designed to investigate how Pairs can tackle the challenge of declining birthrates and unmarried people across Asia.

The seminar consists of two parts. In the first part, Eureka CEO Junya Ishibashi explained Pairs’ efforts to tackle the issue of declining birthrate and unmarried people, and then jointly with Nisseikiso Research Institute and Pairs.

Kanako Amano of Nisseikiso Research Institute gave a keynote speech focusing on the analysis results of the survey “Hypothesis Verification Survey on Factors of Unmarried in Japan.”

The second part of the seminar features Eriko Kitagawa, a Japanese TV drama scriptwriter and movie director who is called “the god of love story”, and a comedian who actually found a partner on the Pairs platform as a representative of the young generation. They joined in a session on love and marriage during the Reiwa era, and the declining birthrate and unmarried people.

In the keynote speech, Amano explained that there is a time limit for marriage as a point derived from the survey in order to solve the modern unmarried situation, and that singles should be actively looking to get married. He suggested that singles should communicate that there is a need to increase, and dispel the stereotypes that are still strongly seen by unmarried people regarding the conditions required for marriage, such as high income for men and the ability to do housework and childcare for women.

In addition, at the seminar, the book “Unmarried Japan-Pairs Joint Survey and Its Trends and Countermeasures Shown by Statistical Data” introduced the results of “Hypothesis Verification Survey on Factors of Unmarried Japan”.
