Aldi Scotland Releases Dating Advice Chatbot

Discount supermarket chain Aldi has created a chatbot service called ‘Al-Date’, which shares advice and chat up lines with love-seeking singles.

The chatbot starts by asking questions to discern personality traits, with questions like “When you do the weekly shop, what’s the most important thing to you?”.

Based on these questions, it assigns users a personality style, for example ‘The Lazy Lover’. It then shares advice, recommended food items, and chat up lines to help users find a date for the big day.

“Dating can be as tough as an overcooked steak, but on the most romantic day of the year, everyone deserves a wingman to help them in love. Whether you are looking to spice things up with a long-term partner, turn up the heat on a new relationship or simply make that initial approach, our Aldi-inspired chat up lines are an easy way to break the ice”, said Olive Yew, a spokesperson for Aldi Scotland.
