LESGO: Solving the “Broken Online Gay Culture”

The founder of LGBTQIA+ dating app LESGO explained in a recent column why he set out to create the platform. Nick Aldrich questioned why the Queer community was stuck with “bin-fire-esque apps”. 

In an article for Gay Times, LESGO founder Nick Aldrich highlighted modern life is filled with too many apps, but that the LGBTQIA+ community has only a small selection of low quality platforms to choose from.

After negative experiences on gay networking apps, he realised that “there’s a fundamental problem with the online culture of gay men”. To make things worse, existing apps were not doing enough to tackle issues, ultimately “actively powering this toxic online culture”.

He decided to create his own platform, LESGO, which looks to be a “one-stop-shop LGBTQ+ solution to online dating, friendship and hook up apps”. 

Some of the safety measures on LESGO include verified profiles, the use of real names (as opposed to usernames), and a matching system that ensures users only chat with those who show interest.

These features were adopted “all in the effort to cancel cruel shutdown type replies from people not into them and/or put a stop to unsolicited messages from people they’re not into”.

Aldrich reiterated that this LGBTQ+ platform was made by and for this community, as opposed to “gays being added to straight platforms/apps in what feels like an afterthought”.
