Gleeden: Can We Love Two People at Once?
A new study of over 1,500 married individuals explores whether it’s possible to be in love with more than one person at the same time.
Gleeden, the extra-marital dating app, revealed that 44% of respondents believe it is possible to be in love with two people at once.
In addition, 55% said they want to have sex with someone other than their spouse, and 37% of individuals believe it is possible to cheat on someone while still loving them.
Is this because respondents are in unhappy relationships? 67% said they feel emotionally happy in their relationship, with almost 80% saying they have sex with their partner at least once a week. And yet 41% of respondents were found to be unsatisfied.
Gleeden shares that the reasons for cheating “have always been multiple and very subjective: while some people may just yearn for adventure and novelty, others may feel ignored in their current relationship and hope to find what they are missing elsewhere”.
The platform shares that online dating is the most common way for partners to cheat, with 57% saying they’ve already cheated on their spouse, almost equally across male and female respondents.
Relationship non-conformity is on the rise, with over 60% of respondents boldly trying out unconventional partnerships, including 22% who have tried non-monogamy.
“We created Gleeden to provide people that already have a desire for infidelity in mind a safe space where they can explore their desires in a judgement-free environment and meet with other people with the same needs and expectations”, said Sybil Shiddell, Country Manager for Gleeden India.
“In particular for women, who historically have always been frowned upon for daring to explore outside the marriage or having bolder fantasies other than marital sex. Gleeden wants to provide women the chance to be in charge of their sexuality and explore their alternatives, which may ultimately result in greater personal empowerment.”
“The changing attitudes of Indian society towards relationships and marriage are incredibly intriguing to see. According to the study, people are questioning established sociocultural norms and adopting a more liberal and open mindset.”
“Our continuous success in India, where we are delighted to be leading this transition, we believe is a tribute to the fact that our platform offers a secure and comfortable environment for people to explore their passions and achieve happiness on their own terms.”
The research was conducted with a sample of 1,503 married Indians between the ages of 25 and 50 who live in 12 Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
